I WAS FOULED AT CENTER COURT GRILL

My mom had made reservations for us to eat at the new restaurant in the Chesapeake Center before the George Strait concert.

She had sent me a link to the menu after she ordered the tickets and I saw BBQ. I didn't hold out much hope for it being that great but hey... Good or bad it would give me something to blog about.

Center Court Grill is sort of a high end steakhouse that also serves burgers and Q. The steaks were priced just slightly higher than say a Saltgrass or Outback but less than a prime steakhouse. I was there to eat BBQ so I didn't notice if the menu said whether they were serving Choice or Prime beef.
I went with the 3 Meat Combo which is all the meats they offer. Brisket, pulled pork, and sausage and I chose mac and cheese and red skin potato salad for my sides and it also came with some tasty jalapeno cornbread.

I did a little research on their website and it says that all their Q is made in house. I don't consider myself enough of an authority to say one way or another but they must have a chef with some samurai knife skills in the back because my brisket was sliced almost uniformly. Uniformly enough to make me go.... Hmmmmm.

The brisket was nice and moist but I didn't get much of a smoke flavor from it. Maybe it was the sweet sauce on it that covered it up.
The pulled pork looked good, and like it was made in house, but didn't taste that great. There were a few hard, dry, pretty much inedible, chunks of bark and the rest of it had a mushy overcooked texture. It was also covered in the same sweet sauce as the brisket.

The sausage was the typical Ekrich style smoked sausage served in most Okie Q-Raunts. It was the only meat I ate all of. Despite it being covered in the sweet sauce like the brisket and pulled pork.

The red skin potato salad was pretty tasty but the penne pasta used for the mac and cheese was overcooked and made what could have been decent mac and cheese not so great.

The highlight of the meal was the yeast rolls, jalapeno cornbread, and the service was pretty good too.

My wife ordered a burger and she said it was tasty and the fries looked good too but I can't say I'd recommend going to Center Court Grill for the Q. The steaks may be better but none of us tried a steak.

On the plus side Martina McBride and George Strait put on a great show. I'm glad I got to see him one last time on his farewell tour.
